Summary/Abstract: Socialinis Bažnyčios mokymas – sistemingai plėtota visuomeninė socialinė doktrina – kilo iš Bažnyčios rūpinimosi žmogumi. Pal. J. Matulaičio gyvenamuoju laikotarpiu pasirodė pirmoji socialinė enciklika, todėl jis ypač stengėsi atsižvelgti į to meto iššūkius Bažnyčiai ir spręsti to meto socialines problemas. Daugelis jo idėjų tuo metu buvo itin pažangios. Socialinio Bažnyčios mokymo sklaida aktuali ir šiais laikais, tad pravartu apžvelgti pal. J. Matulaičio socialinę veiklą. In the course of history the Social teaching of the Church has originated from the Church’s concern about a person and has developed ever since into a systematically fostered societal social doctrine. J. Matulaitis, who lived in the times of the first social encyclical, faced the challenges for the Church of those times and took an active part in dealing with social problems of the contemporary society. It is obvious that many of his insights went beyond the boundaries of his times. Today, when the spread of the Social teaching of the Church is still extremely relevant, it is essential to make acquaintance with one of the greatest personalities in Lithuanian history and features of his social activity.
