Summary/Abstract: The paper presents conceptual and content analysis of LIPKA – the new textbook for first-graders of elementary school. It assesses its compliance with the State Programme of Education for ISCED 1, describes its basic functions and components and the management and organization of pupil´s learning. It points out at the uniqueness of the didactic situation at the outset of teaching reading and writing and at the need for a differentiated approach to pupils.
