Summary/Abstract: In the past, the emergence of plastic turned out to be an excellent alternative to previously used glass packaging. Increasingly, disposable plastic and cardboard packing were used often due to the fact that they are much cheaper, lighter and more convenient. For several dozen years, producers of various goods, keeping up with the wave of growing consumerism, forgot about the effects of mass production and the millions of tons of pollution generated from it. The life of such packaging ended in landfills, decomposing over hundreds of years in the waters of seas and oceans, cause fish and marine animals poisoning, and consequently also human. The article discusses the problem of ecological packaging and extending the life cycle of materials through their re-use. In addition, there are present examples of cosmetic companies implementing pro-ecological solutions and zero-waste concepts in their policy. Finally, the results of the questionnaire survey concerning the consumers’ attitude to the subject of ecology in cosmetic packaging were discussed.
