Summary/Abstract: In the article, we discuss the methodology of ethnographic research as propounded by Bronisława Kopczyńska-Jaworska, a scholar who belonged to the most outstanding Polish, and in fact Central-European representatives of post-war ethnography. We describe research conducted by Kopczyńska-Jaworska in rural and urban settings, and presents the theoretical and methodical paradigm within which she practised ethnography. In addition, we describe the distinguishing features of the so-called Łódź school of ethnography, of which she was a representative.
