Summary/Abstract: This study attempts to analyze the activity of the Observant Franciscans from the Ineu custody. I will start by showing how the vicariate of Hungary came to be formed and how the custody of Ineu came to function as part of this institution. Moreover, this study also focuses on the involvement of the Holy See, the royalty and the nobility in the development process of the Observant branch. The most important points to discuss will be the formation, composition and manner of functioning of the convents: Sacușu Turcesc (Cseri), Caransebeș (Karánsebes), Ineu (Borosjenő), Gyula, Sălard (Szalárd), Gerla, Cenad, Szeged and Oradea (Nagyvárad) which had formed the custody of Ineu. By studying them, we will come to know the way in which the nobles were involved in supporting these convents and how the relationship between them and the Observant Franciscans was maintained. Furthermore, I will also shed light on the main activities of the Observant Franciscans from these convents. Thus, we will not only know of the religious activities the Observant Franciscans performed in the lands of the nobles, but also of their crafts. Other relevant information will come to light regarding the specificity of the Observant Franciscans' settlements in the custody of Ineu. Consequently, I have used a method through which I managed to highlight the existence of three forms of settlements for the convents of the custody of Ineu. Using there three types as a starting point, I will emphasize both the similarities, as well as the differences between these Observant Franciscan convents.
