Summary/Abstract: This paper presents selected examples of Leśmian’s conceptualisation of luminous phenomena restricted to ones in which the basis is the popular metaphor LIGHT IS SUBSTANCE, modified and developed poetically by the author. I distinguish three types of the metaphorical luminous substance: liquid, solid and gaseous. Moreover, I show how the applied conceptualisation influences the dynamics of representation. In the interpretations, I refer to the terms used in cognitive semantics, such as metaphor, connotation, linguistic image of the world.
