Summary/Abstract: In my paper I provide an outline of the semantics of red and pink in Polish. This provides a reference point for analyzing the meanings of these colours in the works of Bolesław Leśmian. The presentation is illustrated with fragments of poetry and prose in which the author uses terms designating colours red and pink. Attention is drawn to the type of context in which these items appear, the kind of objects and phenomena they are associated with, and the lexical shapes they take. The analysis of examples is aimed at depicting the relations between linguistic picture of red in general language, and the picture that can be seen in an artistic text.
