Summary/Abstract: The article presents the development of researches in natural languages’ Processing. It discusses the beginnings of these studies, as well as changes in either the research methods or their rangę and scope during the last 60 years. The author describes two of the most popular research methods; statistical analysis and generative grammars. He also evaluates briefly the advantages and disadvantages of them both. Additionally, the article presents selected modern trends of NLP activities. Among the most popular current research trends in natural language processing, one can mention Information retrieval or documents’ grouping.
