Reading the Reform of School at the End of the 20th Century

Summary/Abstract: The author is trying to present a coherent perspective on the reform of school in the last two decades of the XXth century. The point is to make a credible picture of the politics of education in the former socialist countries in Eastern Europe, for a better understanding of the Romanian case. The author is resuming some case studies (from URSS, East Germany, USA and UK) and is invoking a regional synthesis from the beginning of the 1990s, in order to propose a functional “profile” of reforming the school in very recent times.
