Summary/Abstract: The article is a qualitative analysis of 32 biographies of immigrants living in Lodz for at least 3 years, in the theoretical framework of “life course studies”. Individual stories of foreigners are analyzed in the context of their life choices, the moments of their life stages, the impact of social conditions, social networks and the decision to migrate and move to another country (made in the country of origin) and about favorable and unfavorable factors that decide about staying in Poland, continuing education, finding a job and starting a family.
