Summary/Abstract: The beginnings of the Catholic Mediatheque in Essen date back to 1958, that is, the date of the creation of the diocese of Essen. The actual date of the creation of the library is 2008, when the diocese merged books and magazines and other media, which will be collected so far by three libraries: the Diocesan Library, the Library of the Catechetical Institute and the Library of Fachstelle für Büchereien. The text on the basis of analysis and criticism of available sources and literature discusses the book collection, the conditions for storing and sharing collections and information activities in the Library. The catalogs and multi-scrollers are characterized in detail, through which library resources are available in the global information network. A separate place was devoted to the long-term library manager, Vera Steinkamp.
