Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the materials of the personal history of the famous Russian scientist, the head of the Ivanovo school of Intelligentsia studies V. S. Memetov, the history that is familiar to the author not only on memoirs texts, but also through the experience of many years of creative cooperation in the study of the history of the national artistic culture and intelligentsia; turning to the important pages of the biography of his teacher, the author attempts to reconstruct the history of the creation of a new scientific direction at Ivanovo State University, the organization and activities of the interuniversity center for the study of intelligentsia problems, to understand the experience of holding annual scientific conferences, which served as a rostrum for bold scientific ideas, hypotheses, which revealed many bright new names of researchers and did not allow to “interrupt the binding thread” of generations of domestic intelligentsia. Reflections on important landmark events in the life of V. S. Memetov — military childhood, service in the Soviet army, study at the Moscow State Pedagogical Institute, meeting with outstanding scientists, student youth in “thaw” Moscow, etc., according to the author, explain such personality features as purpose-remission, uncompromising and selfless, and allow to attribute it to the generation of sixty-six revolutionists.
