Summary/Abstract: The author, while analyzing the texts on auctoritas by St. Thomas Aquinas, underlines that the exigency of authority goes in tandem with aspiring not to mediocrity, but always to ad maiora what is manifested with striving for human and Christian virtues. It becomes a basis of social policies as the whole society can be revitalized by acting authorities, discovering universality, and keeping up with “the high look”. Genuine authority results from the permanent effort of lifting eyes up so that they are not stared at temporalness, but at eternity.
