Summary/Abstract: For a myth‑analysis interpretation of the novel The Snake, should be noted that its author, Mircea Eliade is, first of all, an historian of religions and for him the World/the Universe speaks and reveals to people through symbols. Thus, the names of the characters from the novel land some places or events may be considered symbols whose significance will guide the reader to the mythical meaning of the interpretation. Each symbol has the role to give a value to the human existence. Living in the profane world, the man moved away from the sacredness of the primitive or traditional world and, therefore, it must be re‑discovered the religious symbol. From this perspective, the symbols from the novel entitled The Snake reveal the solidarity between human nature and cosmic structures. Detached from their individual time, Andronic and Dorina try to re‑integrate into the sacred universal time and, this way, they follow simbolically the way to the Center, confirming the intuition of Mircea Eliade who truly believes that the sacred still lives hidden in the profane world.
