Summary/Abstract: The author considers the possibility of teacher’s autonomy at school, regarding basic concepts of human needs according to t. Kocowski and M. Foucault’s philosophical thought. Based on her research, she depicts an ominous picture of school democratization, started in Poland with foundation of private schools. The author reckons, the process has been stopped due to bad situation of the teachers, which results in lack of their subjectivity. Lack of their autonomy is connected with failure in satisfying their need of protection (classification of needs according to T. Kocowski).
