Summary/Abstract: Where there’s a will there’s a way—looking at the work of Dr. Rafał Lemkin against genocide one can see in it a confirmation of this old saying. On the one hand, his life shows how difficult and unthankful the work for the protection of people against even such a heinous crime can be. On the other hand, Lemkin’s enormous dedication and determination paved the way to what is widely appreciated as his highest achievement—the adoption of the Genocide Convention in 1948. And therefore, his story is primarily seen as a source of inspiration and encouragement.
