Summary/Abstract: The Greek words προσκομηδή and πρόθεσις, which are used today as terms with the meaning of the preparation of gifts for the Eucharist, have had meaning connected with the Eucharistic prayer, since early times. The preparation of gifts, which later took over these terms, was directly linked to anaphoric prayer. Its basic elements were the bringing of bread and wine to the church community by the people, receiving gifts and preparing them for bringing in Anafora. The place of this preparation has changed through the history. Analyzing the sources and relevant studies, we have drawn some conclusions. The proskomidic Intercession was the result of the mapping of parts of Anafora to Proskomidia. Consequently, the intercession in Proskomidia is a copy of the mention in the Dyptichs. However, the connection of Proskomidia and Anaphora over time, due to the complexity of the act of Proskomidia, was lost because only the intercession in Proskomidia became separated and particles became a kind of sacrifice, independent of the Anaforal sacrifice.
