Summary/Abstract: Importance of the Polish start-up companies’ analysis comply with the desired directions of the actual economic policy of our country, which intends to escape from the „trap of the middle-income” evidenced in the position of Poland in the global competitiveness and innovativeness rankings.Modern start-up companies represent a new type of business entity characterised by different from “traditional” business models deeply rooted in the specificity of the global economy with its network international relations structure, rapid transfer and access to information. Literature study on the issue of start-up companies leads to concluding on the multidimensional perspective that can be taken in their analysis resulting from inflicting the dual understanding of the term “start-up”. In the hereby article, basing on the literature overview, there has been attempted to put in order the variety of subject-issue aspects and to build the “map of problems” which should be taken up when analysing the subjected companies.
