Summary/Abstract: In this study, we focused on using NCR based intervention for challenging behavior in a child with an autism spectrum disorder. To show how the methods can be applied in real life, we are presenting case study of a 6-years-old boy. High pitch screaming was identified as the target behavior. For analysing the function of the target behavior, FBA consisting of ABC data analysis and the MAS questionnaire were used. This assessment shows that the primary function of the target behavior was attention. The frequency data were collected every day for an interval of two hours. The main part of the data collection and intervention implementation was conducted by a trained parent of the child. Collected data show a decrease in the frequency of the target behavior. For a deeper analysis of the data the Poisson regression model was used. The results of the model show that for a significant decrease in the target behavior, the intervention needs to be in place for a sufficient amount of time.
