Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results of a survey that verifies the linguistic intuition of speakers of Bulgarian as a native language of defective plural forms of nouns with abstract-event and collecting meaning. Linguistic intuition involves both assessments of correctness and acceptability, as they depend on the norms that the speaker knows and obeys. The results of the survey show that there is still not enough reason to predict a change in the morphological category of the number of abstract and collective nouns, although fluctuations in the use of nouns with a defective plural will be exacerbated by the influence of media speech.
