Summary/Abstract: In spite of all the reforms from 1979 to the present day, the European elections are mainly elections in which the national issues fagocate the supra-national character and downplay the importance of the elections vis-à-vis those concerning the national institutions. In addition, we do not have a European demos and without this demos it is hard to imagine a radical change. In Romania, the elections of May 2019 are somewhat like a referendum for or against the PSD government agenda more than an election related to European issues.
