Summary/Abstract: The reading of the preparatory drawings for paintings on mobile or parietal supports is entrusted to the application of infrared reflectography: however, in the case of wall paintings in which the loss of the pictorial surface makes the preparatory drawing unreadable because of the deterioration due to time and application of the infrared can result useless because of the transparency of the pigments used for the preparatory drawings, the memory of the iconographic is entrusted to the archaeological and historical sources that can sometimes be misleading. This article proposes a new method of non-invasive investigation able to recovering even minimal survivals of pictorial material used for drawings on wall paintings: this technique is not proposed as totally resolutive but, accompanied by other multispectral investigations, can lead to a more broad understanding of the iconography.
