Summary/Abstract: In sociological theory, some authors identified a relation between loneliness and death. In Durkheim’s theory, the “egoistic suicide” and, primarily, the “anomic suicide”, result from social isolation and are preceded by a particular type of loneliness, which we call “deadly”. The “deadly loneness” is a mental state in which are entangled all persons that maintain social relationships empty of meaning, because ruleless.
