Summary/Abstract: The support of libraries in the modern ways learning and the new informatio – communication environment is baset on developing a critical mind towards given information and a creative usage information and is accomplished thuough Library information education and information literacy. That is why the aim of this research was to analyze the level of information and IT literacy, as well as the problems caused by the aforementioned abundance of available information that the high-shool students and undergraduate students of Information Sciences and English language and literature at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Mostar encounter during the research and learning process. The results suggest that most of the respondents have a medium level of information and IT literacy. Students of Information Sciences were more successful (80%) than the high-school students (73,33%) and the students of English language and literature (70%). The education system of Bosnia and Herzegovina is old and it requires profound changes as soon as possible if Bosnia and Herzegovina is to become competent both in labour market and information society.
