Summary/Abstract: The plays of Karol Wojtyła are still described and scientifically analyzed quite rarely. This article discusses the notion of fatherhood and motherhood in his three plays: “Our God’s Brother”, “The Jeweler’s Shop” and “Radiation of Fatherhood”. Motherhood and fatherhood are important issues and are firmly incorporated in Wojtyła’s thought and its literary expression. Analyzing the texts of these plays one can clearly see this concept’s evolution and cohesion. It is formulated through the eyes of a theologian, a thinker and an artist who observed the social phenomena of his times. Looking at the author’s dramaturgic output in this way makes it possible to perceive the specificity of his works which are complemented in his theological texts. Wojtyła in his plays and pastoral teaching indicates that neis. ther mother nor father are left alone in their important mission. He points to God, the Creator and the Giver, the source of life and love. Parents participate in the giving of life by Him. Thus the concept of marriage presented in his works is strictly connected with the Christian vision of the world. The beginning of each life is God who reveals Himself internally to the human being and in one’s relations with other people.
