Summary/Abstract: The article is about the history of Strabla parish located in Podlasie to the south of Białystok. The name of this picturesque situated town dates back to the times of Queen Bona Sforza d’Aragona who took a liking for this place and called it in Italian “stradabella” which means a beautiful way. Four hundred years of existence of the parish is inseparably connected with the full of grace picture of the Mother of God. Its dimensions aren’t big but its influence on the spiritual life of not only the owners of landed property but also mainly of the parishioners of Stradla is huge. This work of East- Christian art dates back to the end of the 16th century and was probably brought from the territory of past Russia by one of the owners of landed property of Stradla. The author showed the interdependence between the piety of the faithfuls and the presence of the picture of the Mother of God possessing miraculous power. He also showed not only the history of worship development of this picture and documented healings but also the influence of east rituals on the development of Catholic piety.
