Summary/Abstract: Financing the political parties is a topic that stirs fervent debates, especially in times of election periods. The aim of our study is to present and analyse types of financing systems of political parties within several European states. We choose as role models the financing systems in Romania, France and Italy. These 3 states all have multiparty systems, with complex regulations in terms of financing the parties and transparency in political life. The information put forth by our study is based on the latest legislative regulations, on the newest reports in terms of checking the activity of political parties, as well as on the latest evaluations of financing systems within the states to be analysed (for instance, the GRECO Report on Italy, published in April 2012). We suggested in our study a number of solutions that might improve the legal frame in Romania, as far as financing the political parties is concerned, providing as well a better transparency in the political life of our country.
