Summary/Abstract: Second Vatican Council made the Roman Catholic Church more modern and open for man and society at the beginning of the 21st century. After a long period of confrontation between the Roman Catholic Church and modernity, Pope Leo XIII declared the encyclical document Rerum Novarum. This document paved the path toward more peaceful relationships between the Church and contemporary phenomena. Epistle Pacem in Terris quoted all rights which are contained in The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, giving them the theological interpretation. Document Dignitatis Humanae based the freedom of confession on human personality as on the Divine revelation and mindedness. Pontifical Commission Iustitia et Pax, published the document The Church and Human Rights which represents some kind of The Christian Declaration of Human Rights.
