On Text and its Structure

Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with one of the most challenging issue in text theory – what units the text consists of, and the way its elements are connected to provide for the unity of a whole. The authors conclude that the basic unit of any text is – a statement. With regard to its participation in the structure of text a statement is referred to as a texteme. Higher ranked in terms of composition units is a paragraph, a verbative being the highest one in terms of structure and meaning.
