Summary/Abstract: Why are gasoline prices higher in some areas of Bulgaria and lower in oth-ers? This article provides a partial answer to this question through an empirical analysis of the relationship between the regional structure of retail gasoline in Bulgaria and the regional price levels. For this purpose, the study uses data on average prices of gasoline in Bulgaria by districts, which are compared with the corresponding number of stations in each district, the share of nationally repre-sented retail chains and the concentration of brands. The results show that the average prices of basic fuels are expected to be higher in those areas where there are fewer stations, national chains are more present, and the regional concentra-tion of major brands is higher.
