Renowned fishermen and sailors, the Lipovan Russians have chosen in the middle of the 17th century, the lands of the shores and the Danube Delta as their adoption territories, hoping for a peaceful life and the unrestrained exercise of their religion. Old-rits Orthodox Christians, they kept their religion, a living legacy of the old Russian culture, formed from the founding of the Russian Kievian state to the time of Peter the Great. By perpetuating the identity values (language, religion, traditional port, literary creations, musical repertoire, housing architecture, etc.), the culture of the Lipovan Russians is maintained for more than three centuries in an allogeneic space marked by irreversible transformations caused by the modern way of life and the patriarchal lifestyle disappearance. The present study try to highlight informations about the appearance of the appearance and evolution of the ethnic group of the Lipovan Russians in Dobrogea, considerated to be closed for many years, which was guided by ancestral social norms, capable of ensuring the preservation of their national identity almost unalterate.
