Summary/Abstract: Urban morphology or morphological structure of a city implies the spatial arrangement and interrelationship of streets, squares, building lots, public areas, blocks of buildings and other elements of physical structure in urban space. Urbo-morphology stems from the city plan, from the use of urban land, from the meaning and location of functional parts of the city, and from the development of the city in the past and present, but also from a number of other natural and social factors that directly or indirectly affect the morphology and morphogenesis of the city . All these factors and their influences are more or less reflected in the morphology of the city and can therefore often be recognized and read. With the example of Zivinice, as a typical Bosnian mining and industrial town, dominant factors in the development of the city can be identified over certain periods of time, but also the further development of the city and its urbo-morphological structures can be identified. Any city plan that emerges without knowledge of its morphogenesis will remain a pure abstraction, and its development will largely be as spontaneous and unplanned as it has been, leaving the existing problems of urban space use only to pile up rather than to be solved and kept up with the cities of the developed world. These issues are analyzed in an effort to make the general public aware of its complexity, not to remain an "activity of particular social importance" inaccessible and unfamiliar to citizens, although it makes their urban standard and everyday framework of living.
