Summary/Abstract: Preservation of cultural assets and therefore of architectural heritage within spatial planning and urban planning is a legal obligation in all countries of the world, and these obligations have also been undertaken by Bosnia and Herzegovina through the ratification of many international conventions. While these conservation and protection measures are integrated into planning documents, in practice there are other things that make it clear that these measures have only a declarative character to satisfy the legal form. In the preparation of planning documentation, institutions of protection of cultural and historical heritage are forbidden, certain experts from this area are engaged part-time, a list is drawn up and categorization of cultural heritage is made without mentioning the sources of these data or the establishment of the legal regulations
