Summary/Abstract: The Article presents the biblical background of the idea of the Church as communion in the light of the Document The Church: Towards a Common Vision by The Commission “Faith and Order” of The World Council of Churches. This idea reaches Book Genesis, where the creation of men “in God’s image” shows their ability to enter into community with God and other people. The Church shows itself as a community of people who have heard the word of Christ (1 Pet 2,23). Just this word is the first dynamism which unites the people. Therefore the Church keeps up preaching of the Gospel (Rom 10,14-18). Next dynamism which unifies the community is the power of the Holy Spirit, who every believer have received (Eph 2,21-22; 1 Pet 2,5). At last it should be noticed the significance of the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. Sharing in the one bread and drinking the one cup are the foundation of arising of the true community of the Church (1 Cor 10,16-17), which is the Body of Christ (Rom 12,4-8; 1 Cor 12,4-30).
