Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the exhibitionism of death (tanatoexhibitionism) as an issueof metal music studies. Today’s media narratives about death in various dimensions andvariants, innumerable information and comments in social media influence the scaleof tanatoexhibitionism. The main areas of correlation between tanatology and metal culturehave been indicated. Based on selected approaches and theoretical issues (Thomas, Morin,Pomian, Burszta et al.), the funeral of one of the precursors of heavy metal music, Ian LemmyKilmister, which took place at the Forest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Los Angeles on January9, 2016 and was broadcast on YouTube, has been discussed.
