Summary/Abstract: The article examines the historical development of legislation in the field of career development of the academic staff in Bulgaria. He points out the advantages and disadvantages of normative decisions from the beginning of the 19th centuryto the beginning of the 20th century. Criticizes the amendments to the Law on the Development of Academic Staff in the Republic of Bulgaria, promulgated in the State Gazette, N 30 of 3.4.2018, in force as of 4.5.2018.
