Summary/Abstract: Nowadays it is well known that a large part of Eminescu’s folklore collection consists of texts directly transcribed and collected from poets’, storytellers’ and popular singers’ mouth, but also from manuscripts copied from others books, magazines and newspapers. This article describes in what way Saint George was celebrated in a Moldavian village. Romanian folk tradition is very rich in customs related to this holiday, reason for what Eminescu presented this celebration. Interesting with this article is not its content, but the way in which Eminescu transcribed in a literary manner the folk tradition relating the local customs. As much as the so far collected bibliography and folk material allow us, we shall present the customs linked whit Saint George, as they were in nearest place of the poet's birthplace.
