Summary/Abstract: The Constitution of Poland (1997) allows churches and other religious communities to teach religion in the state schools. At the same time, it imposes on the public authorities an obligation to maintain impartiality in matters of religion, worldview and philosophy. Schools run by local and central government should therefore ensure worldview (but not axiological) neutrality throughout the education process, with the exception of catechesis. The content of school catechesis is freely shaped by the religious communities that teach it. The presented article, based on the state legal regulations, shows in particular collisions in the implementation of the principle of neutrality in the main school activities and the teaching of confessional catechesis.
