Andragogic dilemmas

Summary/Abstract: By referring to dilemmas of then andragogy published by Professor Józef Kargul in 1994, the author of the article takes a reflection on some of them in the perspective of the development of andragogy in the past quarter of a century. He focuses his attention mainly on the problems of building the theory and the domain identity of andragogy as a science. He states that the formation of andragogical theo- ry has dominated the needs for the development of educational practice; the issue of adult education is being overlooked. He postulates a greater emphasis on the order, in which the discipline develops: first the theory, then the practice of adult education.
