Summary/Abstract: After 19 May 1954, the organizations of the national liberation- movement of the Macedonian Bulgarians - both legal and illegal - were forbidden, and a great number of their functionaries were arrested, interned or brought to trial and put into prison. The army and the police took a broad-scale disarmament campaign and in fact struck a heavy and irretrievable blow over the organization structures of IMRO.
