Summary/Abstract: The Department of Economic Theory of the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University signed a Memorandum on joint research with scientists of the Department of Parasitology and Tropical Diseases of the Kharkiv Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine in 2018. We believe that modern economic science has many new areas of application. In particular, new fields of knowledge are emerging, such as the medical economics and the pharmaceutical economics. The Medical Economics examines the problem of the effectiveness of the health care system. Specialists use the terms “medical services market”, “supply and demand for medical services”, “consumers of medical services”, “equilibrium of the medical market”, “person as a producer and consumer of health”, “investment in health”, “medical capital”, “health value”. The researchers use the tools of margin analysis (production function, marginal costs and marginal benefits of consuming medical services, etc.) and mathematical models. Medico-economic analysis of functioning of individual markets of medical services is becoming more widespread. The participants of the round table summarized the results of joint scientific research. Among them: a consultative project on the development of economically reasonable prices for laboratory testing in accordance with the principles of medical reform (2018); consultative project on comparative analysis of the cost of treatment of echinococcosis by therapeutic and surgical methods (“STEP-DOWN” methodology) (2019); development of a multifactorial financing model for the prevention and treatment of dirophilariosis (basic principles and indicators of efficiency) (2019).
