Summary/Abstract: The article looks at the reasons and patterns of migrations of young Europeans to other continents. The first section examines the current rationale for migration in which a long lasting effect of the global crisis seems to be the most important factor. In the next section the author reviews selected destinations for migration (namely Angola, Argentina, Australia and Brazil) as well as policies of the receiving countries focused on attracting young, well-educated immigrants. The article concludes with an attempt to answer the question whether we can expect the migrants to return one day to their home countries and enrich the EU economy with their experience gained on the other continents.
