Summary/Abstract: This reflects on the biography of Zbigniew Anthony Kruszewski published by Beata Halicka in 2019 under the title Życie na pograniczach (Life in the borderlands). The article outlines the book which presents the most important information about the scholarship of this pioneer of border studies in the USA. It also presents the academic’s private life, including his childhood spent in Poland during the Second World War.
