Contemporary Wars in Gray Zone Threat to Security. Challenges and Dillemas of Reaction

Summary/Abstract: Experience of conflicts during recent years points out a new trend of running wars below the threshold of the open armed conflict. The article describes the wars of a  new kind where unconventional actions of military and non-military instruments become a part of the so-called gray zone stretching out between the binary border of the war and peace. This article presents threats and challenges for security generated by the conflicts conducted in the gray zone. It points out proposals of actions which one should undertake in order to ensure the international security.
