Economic Consequences of the Global Crisis as Seen by Family Entrepreneurs of the Furniture Industry

Summary/Abstract: Financial crisis, which has began on the market of subprime lending in the United States in the year 2007, in a short time transformed into a global economic crisis. To a greater or less degree, the crisis affected economies of all countries. In particular, the negative consequences of the situation upset companies functioning in branches, which depend on foreign markets. Such industries comprise Polish furniture industry as around 90% of its sold production is destined abroad. The following article presents research findings conducted among small and medium-sized furniture enterprises. The analyses were carried out at the turn of 2013 and 2014. The survey was conducted in 90 furniture companies, including 26 family businesses. A key tool for the researcher was the questionnaire. The research aimed to cover the views of family entrepreneurs on the subject of economic consequences of the global economic crisis for the home furniture industry and other individual companies functioning on the market.
