Economic Clusters and MSE Innovativeness of the Polish Furniture Industry

Summary/Abstract: The paper covers the subject of economic clusters functioning in furniture industry. It presents general analysis of the phenomenon of clustering in Poland set against Europe as well as it covers a brief characteristics of chosen furniture clusters. Empirical data were divided into two stages. In the first phase the companies put under analysis cooperated with other subjects in the field of innovative activity, moreover, the analyses covered these enterprises which, in the frame of this cooperation, functioned within cluster initiative. The primary source of research material were reports entitled “Innovative activity of enterprises” published by the Central Statistical Office. In the second stage of the analyses chosen results from the survey were presented referring to the influence of membership in economic clusters on the level of innovativeness of companies operating in the furniture industry. The analyses comprised 130 small and medium enterprises.
