Summary/Abstract: Personnel management involves all the activities connected with people that are aimed at the implementation of an enterprise’s goals. Such activities should also meet employees’ needs, which refer to their development. The activities are undertaken by an enterprise to achieve a success. This is possible thanks to the involvement and work of the people employed in an enterprise. Personnel management in small family businesses is characterised by the simplicity of applied factors and lack of complicated instruments. Its specificity depends on the scale of a company’s operation. The paper presents discussion on factors influencing personnel management in respect of small family businesses. The research is both theoretical and empirical in nature. The theoretical part shows the concept of a family business and selected factors in personnel management of family businesses, while the empirical one presents results of the author’s own studies on diagnosis of the state of personnel management in small family businesses in a changing environment and indicates areas of the diagnosed process that should be improved.
