Summary/Abstract: Strategic approach to management enables a consistent use of modern toolsfor managing personnel in an enterprise, also in family business. This allows enterprises to achieve close integration of the different systems of management and increase their effectiveness. Effective activity in the strategic dimension requires involvement of all entities operating in the area of the personal function, i.e. managerial staff at all levels, employees, tradeunions or personal counselling companies. The aim of this paper is to identify the strategic dimension of management in the context of family businesses in SME sector as presented in literature on the subject. Further part presents findings of empirical analysis of results of studies as part of the issues discussed.
