Selection Criteria for IT System Supporting Civic Journalism Services

Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the problem of civic journalism as an example of active citizenship. The authors turn their attention to the importance of this issue in the context of the European Union. The article focuses on IT solutions dedicated to the function of the virtual editorial office within websites. The functionality of a website dedicated to citizen journalism was presented. The authors also propose a choice of IT system, which supports websites of citizen journalism (CMS) among the most popular open source applications. Additionally, the results of studies on the construction and evaluation of the decision-making hierarchical model according to the methodology AHP was presented in the paper.
