The Effectiveness Measurement in Freight Shipping Logistics  Enterprises – Challenges and Trends

Summary/Abstract: Fast-growing business sector of Freight Shipping Logistics enterprises struggling with a strong competitive fight. Therefore there are needed solutions that help in gaining competitive advantage in the market. Freight Shipping Logistics companies must be flexible, quickly identify and respond to emerging opportunities and threats to stay in business. They need a flexible strategy that will enable quick identification and utilization of emerging opportunities and market opportunities. Currently, one of the most important elements of building a market advantage is aptly formulated and implemented strategy. There is therefore a need to develop new methods, solutions, tools to help quickly and effectively implement the strategy, and control and monitor its implementation. The article attempts to identify the needs of enterprises in the Freight Shipping Logistics sector to evaluate and measure their effectiveness and formulate the main development trends of Freight Shipping Logistics sector in the coming years. The main aim of this article is to present the results of research, with the development of the concept of a new approach to measuring the efficiency of Freight Shipping Logistics enterprises. It proposed a solution based on the concept of the Balanced Scorecard, by which efficiency measurement is done using a set of specially selected Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) in five different perspectives: financial perspective, customer, internal processes, learning and development and ecological. This solution enables the rapid deployment of frequently updated strategy through measurement and control of the degree of implementation of the main strategic objectives of Freight Shipping Logistics industry.
